What I do

Write.

My independent and collaborative articles, chapters, op-eds, and reports use educational and sociological theories to understand how inequities persist as well as practical changes needed to move towards a more humanizing society. My writing explores how educational institutions can better address the needs of historically and persistently minoritized populations in just and equitable ways that center the voices and experiences of students and  practitioners.

Teach.

My student-centered pedagogical approach to teaching allows me to create classroom environments for doctoral-level courses that emphasize reflexive praxis.  I facilitate courses focused on qualitative and quantitative research methods as well as organizational theory, teaching pedagogy, and program evaluation. Additionally, I have constructed college and career readiness curricula for high school students as an administrator in my prior K-12 leadership efforts.

Speak.

My participation in speaking engagements serve as opportunities for sharing my research, teaching practices, and practitioner experience with audiences including non-profit and corporate organizations, as well as high school, community college, undergraduate, and graduate students. Topics  have included strategies that advance DEI, college and career readiness, racial and ethnic identity development, research methods, educational technology, and issues across U.S. higher education.
